If you are looking for something refreshing and unique and maybe you are a vegetarian or vegan, you just might love this recipe from allrecipes.com (modified slightly)
Fresh Watermelon Water
- 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon – deseed if you are using one with seeds, otherwise, the texture is too grainy.
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup white sugar, or to taste (original recipe calls for 1/2 cup – way too sweet)
- 12-24 fresh mint leaves (this is a to taste option)
- 2 Tablespoons of fresh lime juice
- Lime slices for garnish
- Lots of ice
Puree the watermelon and water in a blender until smooth. Muddle the sugar, lime juice, and 12 to 24 of the fresh mint leaves. Evenly distribute the muddled mixture into the bottom of 6-8 glasses. Fill each glass with ice. Pour in the watermelon water, and stir before serving. Garnish with lime slices and a few mint leaves.
If you are looking to create an adult beverage, you can add a jigger of GOOD vodka to the glasses before pouring the watermelon water. Cheers and Enjoy
