Feature – January Subscription Box

JadeCrate Bohemian and Vintage Styled Subscription Boxes

January Subscription Box Released (Sold Out)

We were so excited to sell out of the January subscription box before we even made it through December 31.  With this said, we decided maybe it would be fun to show some of the highlights of the box and some great feedback (5-Stars) on Facebook and new feedback on CrateJoy (our other storefront platform).

The most important part of the box was to focus on both physical and mental health in January.  We teamed with #GoghJewelryDesign in October to help with our design and content.

About Gogh Jewelry Design

Stuntwoman, Professional SCUBA Diver, Jewelry Designer, and Yogi, Szilvia Gogh celebrates the natural and empowers the individual. The artist’s extensive diving travels combined with her studies at the prestigious Budapest Art Institute come together to create a beautiful mélange of natural tranquility and style with a subtle European flavor. Each hand-crafted piece reflects the Szilvia’s sense of mystery and individuality and beckons to the free spirit in every self-made woman. Szilvia weaves her passions by collecting during her travels. Szilvia curates unique items: turquoise while filming near the Red Sea; shark teeth while diving the extreme waters of South Africa; mala beads found in Nepal while trekking Annapurna and practicing yoga in the Himalayas.

For the January subscription box, the pieces were spectacular.  For the larger boxes she provided a necklace and earring set, and for the Pico’s a beautiful Wunderlust bracelet (one of which I commandeered for myself).   The Lotus and Tibetian Turquoise for both pieces are renowned for their renewal and energy powers, again, this was JadeCrate’s focus in January, renewal.

About the January Subscription Box (the large one)

JadeCrate Subscription Box - January
JadeCrate Subscription Box – January

Featured US Artisan: Gogh Jewelry – Lotus Necklace and Earring Set.  Renew in January.  Jasper and Lotus Necklace and matching earrings: Jasper is the stone of protection. It protects against negativity and aids in grounding you to the stabilizing energies of Earth. Lotus is a symbol of awakening to the spiritual reality of life. Our spiritual jewelry is also wearable for your day-to-day events.

One Pot Pasta – We chose this because it’s winter, and even if it wasn’t, pasta can be universal, vegetarian, gluten-free, very diverse.  If your resolution was to live on salads all month long, here is an alternative.  Cooking is a form of art, very bohemian in nature.  In fact, we have written a few articles on how to make cooking fun, an outlet, creative, and best of all – a homemade meal.  Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We love Kishi soapstone for many reasons, its’ unique, hand carved, and supports fair trade in Kenya. Each quarter we’ll be sending out a miniature collectible. These are fun for around your office, near your computer, or on a special viewing shelf where you can take a moment to slow down, breath and smile. These are really cute and all one-of-a-kind.

Track your journey in 2018 with this metallic, natural paper, handmade, fair-trade journal from India.  Remember those times when you wish you had a piece of paper tucked in your purse to make a note?  We have you covered, stylishly.

Bubbles and Butter is back in January with Love & Lemons body wash.  Clean, fresh – we thought it might be a good time to get the cinnamon broom and pumpkin spice scents out and in with the new.  If you love the product, larger bottles are available at www.bubblesandbutter.com

TeaPigs “Popcorn Piglets” – Yes, it’s a caffeinated green tea, with sweet undertones, derived from the small amount of toasted rice in the bag.  It’s a green tea with a nutty undertone, also referred to “Sugar Puffs” in a cup.  It’s dairy and gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and vegans. A great go-to if you are avoiding snacks or sweets.

After two months of holiday parties, overindulging, it’s time to give your body a break for the new year.  These chips do not taste like “dirt” and personally, I am not a beet fan, but these chips are delish and good for you too.  Clean out your system and boost your energy in January.  These brilliantly red snacks get their color from the fresh beets gathered straight from the fields and put into each chip. The Better Chip believes in the power and great taste of the beet chip, and after trying them, you’ll never think of beets the same way again.

Mindfulness Monday – Simply Breathe

The purest form of mindfulness is to breathe simply.

The caveat here with the exercise is to breathe with conscious effort.  All those breaths have a purpose besides keeping your heart and brain going.  We challenge you to start a 5 Mindful Breaths exercise you can do every day, before work, at work, after work, anywhere you like.  Rules of engagement are you will use these five deep breaths of fresh air to think free and preferably concentrate on only the breathing.  This exercise is particularly useful if you are feeling restless, anxious, angry, or stressed.  Use the time to focus on only one thought or image.  If necessary close your eyes and picture something that brings you peace, joy, makes you feel relaxed and hold on to it.  When you complete the exercise, you will notice a difference in your state of mind and a big dose of H2O is healthy for you too. In Season – Watermelon

The JadeCrate newsletter comes with a recipe, usually comprised of in-season vegetables and a protein.  However, it’s July, it’s hot, thirst beats out hunger in this simple recipe.

If you are looking for something refreshing and unique and maybe you are a vegetarian or vegan, you just might love this recipe from allrecipes.com (modified slightly)

Fresh Watermelon Water

  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon – deseed if you are using one with seeds, otherwise, the texture is too grainy.
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar, or to taste (original recipe calls for 1/2 cup – way too sweet)
  • 12-24 fresh mint leaves (this is a to taste option)
  • 2 Tablespoons of fresh lime juice
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Lots of ice

Puree the watermelon and water in a blender until smooth. Muddle the sugar, lime juice, and 12 to 24 of the fresh mint leaves.  Evenly distribute the muddled mixture into the bottom of 6-8 glasses.  Fill each glass with ice. Pour in the watermelon water, and stir before serving. Garnish with lime slices and a few mint leaves.

If you are looking to create an adult beverage, you can add a jigger of GOOD vodka to the glasses before pouring the watermelon water.  Cheers and Enjoy
